So students and parents are looking not only for the dates of the Christmas holiday break, but above all for the start and end dates of the winter break. We know the winter break dates for 2027—check when to plan time off with your family!
Winter break in 2027—key dates?
As always, the winter break in the 2026/2027 school year will take place across several dates, announced every year by the Ministry of National Education. Which students will be able to enjoy free days first, and who will have to wait a little longer? Not sure when to book a winter break in the mountains for your family? Below are the 2027 winter break start and end dates for each voivodeship:
- from 18 January to 31 January 2027—winter break is for students from: Podkarpackie, Podlaskie, Dolnośląskie, Łódzkie, Śląskie, Opolskie;
- from 1 February to 14 February 2027—winter break is for students from: Mazowieckie, Pomorskie, Świętokrzyskie, Lubelskie;
- from 15 February to 28 February 2027—winter break is for students from: Lubuskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Warmian-Masurian, Wielkopolskie, West Pomeranian, Małopolskie.
The dates of the winter break are set based on § 3(1)(2) of the regulation of the Minister of National Education of 11 August 2017 on the organization of the school year, after consulting the opinions of voivodes and education superintendents.
When does the winter holiday break fall in 2026?
Apart from the winter break, children and young people can also count on a few days off around Christmas and New Year. The winter holiday break will run from 23 to 31 December 2026—so you can confidently book your dream family Christmas in the mountains.
1 Jan is a mandatory day off; with 6 Jan (Three Kings) on Wednesday, many schools get extra days off: 4 & 5 Jan 2027. A perfect chance to extend your mountain winter stay and recover after the Christmas–New Year rush.

Another way to spice up your winter vacation is a visit to the ice rink in Krynica, and for those craving adrenaline we recommend using snowmobile rental.
Even winter Krynica-Zdrój, under fresh white snow, looks amazing. Visit the city centre: the Krynica promenade is the heart. See key architecture, try a mineral water springhouse, and pop into a local museum. In winter the Beskid Sądecki routes are especially demanding—plan and prepare well.
